Walter B. Wriston papers, 1918-2006 1980-1999.

The collection contains materials from Walter B. Wriston's office at Citibank on Park Avenue in New York dating from 1918-2006. The materials predominately consist of speeches and resources used to write two of his books "The Twilight of Sovereignty: How the Information Revolution is Transforming Our World" and "Bits, Bytes, and Balance Sheets: The New Economic Rules of Engagement in a Wireless World." The bulk of the material dates to the 1980s and 1990s. The collection includes both paper and electronic media. There are forty-one DVDs and CDs including one CD-ROM. The CD-ROM contains files extracted from Wriston's computers which date from 1989-2006. A number of the file types were so old the files were resaved as plain text files.

Walter B. Wriston retired as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Citicorp and its principal subsidiary, Citibank, N.A. on September 1, 1984, after having served as Chief Executive Officer for 17 years and in various other positions with the company for 38 years. Following a year's service as a U. S. State Department officer and a four-year tour with the U. S.
